Area of Production

The Denominación de Origen Protegida Alicante is on the Eastern coast of Spain enjoying a warm climate throughout the year and the beneficial influences of the Mediterranean. The mountainous interior has a climate that is continental in character.

Monastrell

 

Winemaking

The ripe grapes are carefully selected from vines that are more than 30 years old with a very low production of between 2 and 3 kg. per vine. The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently crushed. Cold maceration in stainless steel tanks during 4 or 5 days at 12 - 14ºC, and fermented in controlled temperature at 26ºC, using selected yeasts.

 

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep cherry red with violet tones.

Aroma: Intense aroma of mature red fruits over a spicy and balsamic background.

Taste: Complex, smooth and full bodied with a long finish.

 

Serving Suggestions

DNA Classic Monastrell is ideal with red meats, roasts, game dishes and strong cheeses. Serve between 16 and 18ºC.
