Absinthe
Absinthe is one of the most mysterious alcoholic beverages, shrouded in centuries-old secrets and legends and therefore even more desirable and inviting. For many years in Russia did not know about the existence of absinthe, but now interest in him is increasing every day.
Absinthe story
The history of this emerald drink begins one and a half thousand years before Christ, but at that time it did not look like modern absinthe, since then the leaves of wormwood (the main raw material) were simply soaked in wine and used as a medicine. Such famous figures as Pythagoras and Hippocrates prescribed this medicine for many diseases.
In our usual form, absinthe first appeared only in 1792, when French physician Pierre Ordiner, who discovered the bitter wormwood in the hills in the surrounding area, began experimenting with this plant, which has healing properties. His recipe for making absinthe was likely to include such herbs as wormwood, anise, hyssop, fennel, melissa, and a small amount of coriander, veronica, chamomile, parsley, and even spinach. Mixing all these components in certain quantities, Pierre Ordiner received a seventy-degree elixir, which quickly gained popularity as a cure for all ailments.
A few years later, the recipe for making this drink fell into the hands of Major Dubier. Together with his son and son-in-law Henri-Louis Pernaud, he opened the first company for the production and sale of absinthe.
This was the story of the appearance of this drink, which is now very popular in Russia, which is especially true of Absenta Xenta , made according to the classic recipe, developed 200 years ago. It was first produced in Spain, which was made specifically for the Russian market by request of a distributor. Recently, the most common drink is made in Italy. Connoisseurs of elite alcohol have been arguing for several years now whether Xent can be considered absinthe fully, because he is of European origin, and whether it contains thujone. However, to solve these issues for yourself, you definitely need to try this wonderful alcoholic drink, which today you can buy both in supermarkets and online stores. To tryAbsinthe Xent is also offered in bars and clubs, where it is presented as an exotic drink.
In the recent past, new varieties of this brand appeared - Xenta Superior with a sprig of wormwood, in which there is no dominant anise accent, which is very similar to Czech absinthe, as well as Ksenta Tminnaya (Kummel) , which has a distinctive originality.
Preparation of absinthe
The main component in the preparation of Absinthe Xent is, of course, wormwood. Its essential oils contain a large amount of thujone - a substance of natural origin, which smell like menthol. In addition, it also has a hallucinogenic effect on humans. It is due to the content in the absinthe of thujone that the effect of the use of this drink is completely unlike the alcoholic one. This can be either complete relaxation, or vigor and a burst of energy, or absurd and sometimes terrible acts, or euphoria and causeless laughter, and sometimes visual disturbance. Many foreign creative people used absinthe as a source of inspiration. For example, Paul Verlaine nicknamed this alcoholic drink "The Green Witch" , and Picasso implemented the image of absinthe in his paintings.
For Absinthe Xant is characterized by a rich wave of aniseed notes and a mild taste with a slight hint of licorice, which allows you to veil a great strength of the drink, which is 70% vol. In addition, this absinthe is characterized by a unique translucent green color that has shades of apple and lime.
All absinthe are used in the accompaniment of a special ritual and Xent is no exception. The classic way of drinking this drink is as follows: a fork is placed above the glass on which the sugar cube is placed, and then ice water is poured on it until the absinthe becomes cloudy, releasing the essential oils. Thus, the sweet water, getting into the drink, neutralizes its bitterness and, most likely, serves as a thujone catalyst. In this case, the most successful is the dilution of absinthe with water in proportions of 1: 5.
Use of absinthe
Drinking Absenta Xenta must be taken slowly in order to thoroughly taste and understand its deep taste. Otherwise, the use of the drink will not bring you any sensations, except for a headache. It is also necessary to remember that although modern absinthe is not harmful to health, the thujone it contains in large quantities can entail hallucinations, addiction and even severe dependence. In this regard, drinks containing high doses of this substance in some countries are completely prohibited. In the history there are cases when people under the influence of thujone fell into a long depression, turned into aggressors and even became criminals. Therefore, do not abuse absinthe, clearly count your strength, and then you will be able to appreciate the qualities of this great alcoholic beverage.
