Only the best distillery-made bourbon is bottled like Old Road Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. To do this, choose about 30-35 barrels of aged whiskey. Samples from these barrels are thoroughly analyzed. If at least one taster does not confirm the quality of the sample, whiskey from this barrel will not be used for bottling.

 

Particularly important and interesting part of the selection of barrels. Before Old Road is poured into the barrels, the barrels are rigorously inspected. They should be made of special wood, whose age should be from 70 to 80 years. Tree selection standards for Old Road bourbon are expensive, but it is necessary if we want to get an excellent result. The tree is also examined for grit. If the graininess of the tree is very small, this leads to an unripe whiskey, which will be weak and less fragrant. Too coarse grain will lead to a predominance of woody notes in the taste. Barrels are also inspected for broken or damaged staves and open joints.
