Oban
Oban whisky in Ukraine
Oban Distillery is a small Scottish distillery that was founded by the Stevenson brothers in a small fishing village in 1794. The plant was developing rapidly, due to which the village began to develop and grow, and over the years it turned into a big city. In 1883, the distillery was bought by Walter Higgin, who saw the prospects for the enterprise in connection with the commissioning of the railway between Obana and Glasgow. He took up the modernization of the plant and the expansion of its territory.
To do this, it was necessary to eliminate the wall that supported the factory walls. Very curious is the fact that during these works human remains were discovered, which, according to scientists, date back to 4500 BC. In 1898, the company was bought by Alexander Edward, the owner of the Aultmore factory, which was engaged in the supply of whiskey for Pattison Ltd, a leading whiskey wholesaler. However, Pattison Ltd soon went bankrupt, which had the most negative effect on the Oban distillery. And only in 1923, when the plant was bought back by a group of entrepreneurs, he managed to recover and achieve prosperity, which continues to this day.
Today Oban Distillery is a member of the Diageo Consortium. The factory has only two distillation cubes installed, which provide no more than 90 barrels of whiskey per week. The company takes water for the production of its drinks from Loch Glennabrade Lake, which plays an important role in creating high-quality whiskey. Whiskey Oban is characterized by a wonderful sweetish aroma, in which you can feel salty sea and smoky notes and a generous, spicy taste.
