Lagavulin
Lagavulin whisky
Lagavulin distillery is located in the south of Islay. This area was previously famous for a huge number of clandestine enterprises producing alcoholic beverages. Lagavulin became the first legal distillery in the region. Farmer John Joston established the plant in 1816, and in 1837 Lagavulin merged with the Kildaton distillery. The main competitor of the company was the Laphroaig plant, therefore, until the 60s, Lagavulin produced a line of whiskeys with a very strong peat flavor. Nevertheless, the production of such varieties was stopped, and the production of the classic Lagavulin grew. In the 24th year, the distillery was acquired by the grandson of the founder of White Horse, who used the drink in his blends, and three years later the distillery became owned by the Diageo corporation, which brought the well-deserved popularity of Lagavulin whiskey.
