Glenkinchie
Glenkinchie Scotch single malt whisky
Glenkinchie distillery is a Scotch single malt whisky distillery in East Lothian, Scotland. It is one of the six distilleries in the Lowland region.
Glenkinchie Distillery is one of the oldest in Scotland, founded in 1837. The plant is located in Louland - a picturesque place near Edinburgh. The distillery was founded by two farmer brothers George and John Reyta. 1837 was the year of the official start of production, but the brothers had already traded illegal whiskeys of their own production, but because of the increased interest from the tax service, they had to license their goods. The distillery got its name from the name of the Kinchey Burn source, the water from which was used to make the drink. The farm owned more than 80 acres of land, which allowed growing barley and food in its own fields. Seaweed was used as fertilizer in the fields, due to which the barley crop was of very good quality.
