The 15-year-old Cardhu whiskey is produced in one of the oldest Speyside distilleries, located near the Spey River. Distillery Cardou was founded over 200 years ago, in 1811, by Helena Cumming as an illegal winery, licensed only in 1824.
The Cardhu distillery was the first to be officially run by a woman. It was Helena, and eventually her sister-in-law Elizabeth Cumming, who took on the distillery and refined the flavor and character of the whiskey that is still known today - light, elegant, generous, born of hard work and determination.
