Ron Barceló Rum’s are loved for their superior taste, and several steps are undertaken to ensure the highest level of quality is present in each and every bottle.  Unlike most white rum’s Barceló’s Gran Platinum is a blend of on average 6 year old rums, aged in bourbon barrels, every oak barrel must go through a rigorous check to ensure the source and quality of each one. Temperatures and humidity levels enhance and accelerate the natural process of aging and therefore must be constantly monitored. This is critical as the quality of the cask and the time spent in it, are the foundation for an excellent end result. To complete the stages the aged rum is carefully filtered through charcoal filters which removes the colour along with some of the stronger aroma’s which come from barrel ageing.  This makes for lighter rum in both colour and taste.

 

The result is Ron Barceló Gran Platinum, bright and smooth with a creamy texture, the taste carries the signature smooth sweetness of the Barceló range with a hint of green apple, pineapple and hay followed by the initial taste of white cacao, condensed milk and then coconut water.
