In the middle of the 18th century, a woman named Marie Brizard was well known among the inhabitants of the city of Bardot. The Frenchwoman did charity work and helped the sisters in the local infirmary. One day a sailor was among the sick. The man miraculously climbed out of the other world, and in gratitude to his salvation told the secret of a healing elixir, which for centuries had been prepared by healers in his homeland. Based on this recipe, anise liqueur was created, which is still produced under the Anisette brand.
Later, the distillery founded by Marie will be renamed after her. And all subsequent types of liqueurs were also named after the founder. Today the company is considered the third largest alcoholic beverages production in the world. Liqueurs "Marie Brizard" are exported to 130 countries.
