GODO
GODO
In 1786, the French Baroness visited Japan, who brought French wine as a present to the emperor. This wine really liked both the emperor and the court. After long discussions, the Emperor chose the GoDot family, which belongs to one of the branches of the imperial family, whose representatives were to go to France to learn the traditions of making French wines. For a long time, the GoDo family lived and studied all the intricacies of the production of French wines. Upon returning to Japan, the GoDo winery was built on Hokkaido Island near the city of Sapporo. Most Japanese drinks were traditionally made from plums, so it was decided to combine Japanese traditions and newly acquired skills and technologies in one. The result was plum wine produced to be placed on the table for the emperor. Wine very quickly gained popularity. Then it was decided to make a series of experiments with other types of fruits. As a result, in addition to plum wine, wines made from pomegranate, blueberry, apricot and medlar were made.
To this day, this company is the number one alcohol producer in the Japanese market, it owns more than a hundred brands, of which sake and fruit wine are especially popular.
