"Whitley Neill" is the brainchild of Johnny Neal, a descendant of the Greenall-Wheatley family, which has been producing gin since 1762. Carried away by gin and the complex distillation process of its manufacture, Johnny Neal began work under the able guidance of his grandmother. Then he learned how, simply by combining the sharp taste of juniper berries with many other plant components, you can radically change the taste of the drink. Johnny Neal became like an alchemist, dreaming of creating a genie with a more exotic and mysterious taste than all known samples. He found ingredients for his gin in Africa, including baobab. And to reflect the role that the baobab tree played in creating the Whitley Nill gin, Johnny placed his silhouette on the gin label and made it a symbol of the brand.
