    The rum producer is Brugal.

When Don Andres Brugal Montaner sailed across the Atlantic from Spain to Cuba, he probably did not realize that after more than a hundred years his name would be identified with one of the most famous Roma in the world, which in his native Spain will generally become Rum No. 1.

“History is created to share” is Brugal's motto today. This story began back in 1888. That year, Mr. Brugal moved from Cuba to the Dominican Republic, where he got acquainted with the technology of rum production. Here, in the north of the country, in the coastal region of Puerto Plata, a family company was founded, years later creating the first seasoned Dominican rum. Further significant moments in the company's history also contain the word “first” - the first Dominican rum of the Anejo category, the first premium rum Extra Viejo, the first Dominican rum exported to Spain.

Brugal considers two factors to be its key to success. Firstly, the family continuity of the technology for the production of rum, when the masters of the ronero (blenders) are exclusively family members, delving into technical processes from childhood. Today they are representatives of the fifth generation of the surname Jazil Quintana and Gustavo Zeller. Secondly, an important role is played by the careful manual selection of barrels in which Brugal rums are aged in the humid warm climate of the Dominican Republic.

With many awards at international competitions and critical acclaim, the Brugal brand in 2008 entered the portfolio of a serious player in the alcohol industry, the Scottish company Edrington, which represents such famous names as The Macallan, The Famous Grouse, Highland Park and others on the world stage.
